This Mother’s Day, I treated myself to a truly unforgettable experience: a visit to the Warner Bros Studio Tour Hollywood in California. Known for creating some of the most iconic TV shows and movies of all time, Warner Bros doesn’t just make magic on screen—they let fans step into it.

While this visit was a special Mother’s Day event, you can experience this fun year-round with one of four available tours. The Warner Bros Studio Tour Hollywood offers something for movie buffs or family fun.

Although the tour takes place in Burbank, California, it’s often referred to as the “Hollywood” tour because of its deep ties to the entertainment industry and proximity to Los Angeles.

Many visitors expect it to be located in Hollywood proper, but Burbank is truly where the behind-the-scenes magic happens. Warner Bros themselves brand it this way, so don’t be confused—it’s a short drive from Hollywood and an essential stop for film lovers.

The Mother’s Day Gilmore Girls Experience

The tour I chose was special just for Mother’s Day and included a once-in-a-lifetime luncheon themed around Gilmore Girls.

It featured a delicious meal and an intimate fan event hosted by none other than Scott Patterson—better known as Luke Danes from the show. To everyone’s delight, he brought along Vanessa Marano who played his daughter April on the show.

During lunch, Scott recorded a live podcast episode, adding another layer of fan interaction to an already memorable day. If you’re an avid Gilmore Girls fan or simply a lover of nostalgic TV, this event was an absolute dream.

When planning for a tour at the Warner Bros lot, expect to spend a minimum of three to four hours to fully take it all in. My family and I took time to experience the tour, luncheon, unguided tour, and gift shops; therefore, we took approximately five hours there.

Warner Bros Tour Experience

The core of the experience is what makes it shine: the sets, the stories, and the behind-the-scenes magic. From the moment you walk in, the Warner Bros Studio Tour Hollywood staff guides you through an introduction video, backlot views, and an explanations of where your favorite moments from film and television came to life.

There are currently four different Warner Bros Studio Tours to choose from:

  1. Studio Tour (the most popular)
  2. Studio Tour Plus (adds more exclusive areas and a meal)
  3. Classics Tour (focused on golden age cinema fans)
  4. Deluxe Tour (a full-day deep dive for the true superfans)

Each one offers something slightly different, but they all take you into the heart of Hollywood magic.

Step Into Iconic Shows

If you’ve ever wanted to sit on the famous Friends couch, this is your chance. The Friends fountain and couch setup is just one of many photo spots available. You can visit a full recreation of Central Perk with your choice of coffee. Right next door, the Friends Shop is the perfect places to grab themed gifts for those on your list.

Gilmore Girls fans will be thrilled to walk through a piece of Stars Hollow, with the highlight being a photo op in front of the beloved Luke’s Diner. If superheroes are more your thing, get ready to see memorabilia and props from Batman and Superman films, including Batmobiles and iconic costumes.

Warner Bros Interactive Fun for Everyone

One of the best parts of the Warner Bros Studio Tour Hollywood is the interactive element. Kids, teens, and adults can enjoy immersive activities such as green-screen video experiences.

You can fly on a broomstick in a Harry Potter-themed video or zip through Gotham in the Batman experience. These are an added cost, but they’re fun and made it worth our experience. The videos make perfect keepsakes and fun digital souvenirs.

Beyond video experiences, there are opportunities for guided photos. The staff helps position you in front of legendary set pieces and offers professionally shot photos that you can buy at the end of your tour. These moments make fantastic gifts or additions to your vacation scrapbook.

A Dream for Movie & TV Fans

You don’t have to be a superfan of one specific show to enjoy the Warner Bros Studio Tour Hollywood. There are nods to dozens of shows and films throughout the property. From The Big Bang Theory set, a behind the scenes look at shows in progress, and fun interactive sets for Harry Potter fans.

My personal favorite was getting to sit where the fans sit during the filming of a show and understanding how the sets are created for fast changes to each scene. These little behind-the-scenes moments make you appreciate film and TV even more.
